Day Seventeen: 17 Sept 2010
It was beautiful weather outside today. We had class all morning (talked about Egypt!), I did my laundry, had lunch, and then went to the Old City with a buddy of mine. I've never actually been 'shopping' per se until today, and it was an interesting experience lol. In the US, capitalism is the name of the game and the individual doesn't mean much as he walks into a huge store. However, the people sit outside and personally guide you by the hand into their shop here. They have a lot of cool chess boards that I wish I had the money to buy haha. Anyway, I got a couple shirts that hopefully will be more comfortable for Egypt. We came back, had lunch, and we have been watching The 10 Commandments for the past 2.5 hrs. On a cultural note, today/tomorrow is the Jewish celebration of Yom Kippur--nice to keep in mind while I'm here, or in any place really. Tomorrow I get to play the organ for church and that will be cool (it's a full pipe organ). Oh, and I've officially decided that Arabic is an awesome language. Goodnight!
